SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WE'VE BEEN ASKED SO FAR...
Q - WILL YOU BE LICENCED?
WE WILL ENSURE WE OBTAIN ALL AVAILABLE LICENCES AND GAIN PLANNING PERMISSION PRIOR TO OPENING OUR DOORS. LICENCING REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT CONSIDERED AS PART OF THE PLANNING APPLICATION PROCESS
Q - WHAT ABOUT ANIMAL WELFARE?
WE'LL COMPLY WITH The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 AND LIAISE WITH THE RELEVANT ANIMAL WELFARE PROFESSIONALS ATT LEEDS CITY COUNCIL.
Q - How wILL YOU manage noise?
All dog’s must pass an assessment designed by one of only a handful of behaviourists accredited by the Kennel Club.
The assessments will test the dog’s predisposition to barking at a range of stimuli and when in an excited state.
Dogs are constantly appraised during their time on site. Any dog that subsequently develops a barking ‘habit’ will be reassessed and their access to Hollywoof revoked.
The site will have noise monitoring equipment to ensure that any planning conditions are being met and preventing any malicious complaints.
Q - How wILL YOU manage traffic?
Ted’s will collect 92% of dogs from their owner’s homes and drop them back after their sessions – simple.
Only a small availability of spaces will be available for owners to drop off and collect their dogs. These will be reserved for owners living outside the catchment area and strictly by appointment only – max 5 per hour during peak times and at an alternative entrance to the site.
Hollywoof has volunteered to enter into a travel management plan to support the planning application with a view that this would be added as a planning condition. This will incur additional work and costs for Ted’s however we believe this has the benefit of peace of mind for locals.
To enhance our sustainability credentials, Hollywoof will operate several traffic schemes for team members including gaining accreditation as a Bike Friendly Employer. This would reduce traffic flow to no more than 11 movements per hour during peak times and require a maximum of 10 parking spaces on site for employees.
Q - How will YOU manage waste AND STOP SMELLS?
Simple…we’ll compost it. We’ve researched the most environmentally friendly, safe methods with minimum odours to dispose of our dog poop. We feel this is a responsible and sustainable thing to do and it’ll work great on all the plants, bushes and trees we’ll be planting across site.
As for the dog urine? Well, the putrefaction process in the soil occurs when bacteria and fungi break down the organic nitrogen compounds in the urine to produce ammonia in the form of ammonium ions. There are several techniques to re-balance pH levels in the soil on site if needed and this will be included in our site management plans. Soil pH will determine whether the ammonia becomes gaseous - NH3 - or remain as aqueous ammonium ions NH4+ which would not cause any odour.
Q - WILL YOUR TEAM BE QUALIFIED?
ALL OUR TEAM WILL COMPLETE AN NVQ LEVEL 2 AS PART OF THEIR INITIAL TRAINING AND PRIOR TO BEING ABLE TO WORK WITH ANY OF OUR DOGS. WE'LL HAVE STRICT PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES TO SAFEGUARD THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF ALL THE DOGS ON OUR SITE. ALL EMPLOYEES WILL ALSO WORK TO NVQ LEVEL 3 BOTH ON SITE AND THROUGH WORK BASED ASSESSMENTS.
